Gary Howie Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cremation Services of East Alabama, Inc. - Anniston on Mar. 10, 2026.
Gary Richard Howie, 64, of Oxford, Alabama passed away March 3, 2026

Gary was born in Cornelius, North Carolina on April 17, 1961 to Jerry Howie and Barbara Overcash. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, Gary spent many years as a test rider for Harley-Davidson, a role that combined his love for motorcycles with his adventurous spirit.

After retirement, Gary discovered a passion for LEGO building. What began as a hobby quickly grew into something more, and he eventually became a LEGO dealer, sharing his enthusiasm and creativity with others.

Gary had a deep appreciation of the arts. Whether through music, photography, or creative projects, he enjoyed expressing himself and exploring new ways to create.

He was the ultimate girl dad. Gary made it a priority to share experiences with his daughter, taking her to ballets, musicals, concerts, and baseball games. He sacrificed much to ensure she had opportunities for adventure and exposure to the arts, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Gary was also a proud and encouraging grandfather to Savi Jane. He constantly reminded her that she could be anything she desired and loved nurturing her creativity- often with LEGO gifts that reflected his own passion for building and imagination.

He was known for his stubbornness in the most charming way and for his love of laughter. He especially enjoyed sharing the latest dad jokes he had come across, always ready to make those around him smile.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Jasmine Nolan (Tyler); his beloved granddaughter Savi Jane; his parents, Jerry Howie (Shirley) of Gulf Shores, Alabama, and Barbara Overcash of Statesville, North Carolina; his sister, Sabrina Young (Mark); his step-brother, Justin Pilkington (Joann); two nieces, several nephews, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Howie.

Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on through the memories, creativity, and love he shared with those closest to him.
