Gary Alan Hughes
Born: Nov. 8th, 1952 Richland, Washington
Passed away: April 20th, 2025 Beaverton, Oregon

Married to Sandra Hughes for 20 years and they have resided in Tigard, Oregon.
He attended Richland High School "Home of the Bombers". He always had an entry in the school science fairs and the National Science Fairs and won several awards. An avid reader and lover of books since childhood, he often traveled on vacations with a pile of books to take along. His mother would have a fit but she knew he was special and let him drag them along as long as he looked out the window at the sights! Once in the 3rd grade, he wrote a book report on Kon Tiki! This shows you how smart and special Gary was. He was kind, soft-spoken and dedicated to his faith and politics. He attended Portland Bible College and graduated top of his class. He was a member of the Portland chapter of the John Birch Society and the Columbia River Theatre Organ Society for years.
He attended Mannahouse Church where he had many friends that he loved to have deep conversations with while helping out at church events. He was wholehearted about prayer, worship and discipleship. Gary was very generous often opening up his home to others in need of a place to land.
Gary, being the creative man he was, had unique businesses and shined with many talents. One business was the re-building of pipe-organs, where he would work on church organs around the state and nation. on top of that, he was an accomplished organ player himself. He also started a repair business for Audio-Video machines for commercial and home use which made them last beyond their years because he was so good at fixing old things to make them play like new again. He made his house a home using his skills in carpentry, cooking, plumbing, sewing and many more.
He had many show tunes on his playlist that he often shared with those who enjoyed his piano playing and liked to sing-along! To add to his talents, Gary was also a self–published author. He wrote many books on Faith and Religion, Politics and Science. He was also passionate about healthy living and organic gardening including the "canning" of his favorite Dill Pickles that he would bless upon those Pickle-lovers he knew!
Gary was a unique character and modern-day renaissance man who will be missed by many.
