Gary Imhoff, 68, of Wausau, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at his home in Wausau, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous four-year battle with cancer. He was born on July 20, 1957, in Wausau, son of Leonard and Loretta (Ostrowski) Imhoff. Gary embraced life with a great sense of humor that brought laughter and joy to those around him, even in his final days.
Gary dedicated many years of his life working as a forklift operator at Sonoco in Wausau, where he not only honed his skills but also formed lasting friendships and met his wife of 25 years, Erica (Garner) Imhoff.
Family was Gary's top priority. His personality shined brightly; always smiling and he was known for his mellow demeanor. He had a passion for the outdoors, finding peace and adventure in camping, fishing, and hunting, with memorable Harley rides shared with his brother.
He is survived by his loving wife, Erica Imhoff; 5 children: Wesley Imhoff of Wausau, Amy Imhoff of Wausau, Michael (Natasha) Imhoff of Stevens Point, Brian (Megan) Imhoff of Rib Mountain, and Shelby Soukup of Minneapolis. Gary was a proud grandfather of nine: Austin, Jonathan, Wyatt, Braden, Jayden, Jaxon, Grace, Collin, and Violet, as well as three great-grandchildren: Dean, Josie, and Legend. He is further survived by his siblings: Cheryl (Hugh) Gross of Gleason, Gayle (Scott) Maluegge of Merrill, and Greg Imhoff of Wausau, along with numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, two siblings, Linda Imhoff and Eileen Rupe, and his granddaughter, Jessica Imhoff.
A visitation to honor Gary's life will take place on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ascend Funeral Home & Cremation Care, located at 2809 Jelinek Avenue, Weston, WI. Memorial Mass will be held in his memory on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 1104 S 9th Ave, Wausau, WI with a visitation prior at 9:30am. Rev. Woodrow Pace will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Wausau.
