Gary Johnston Obituary
Gary William Johnston, 68, of Fredericksburg passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021.
He was born on May 8, 1953 in Alexandria to William and Bonnie Johnston. He was a graduate of Fort Hunt High School, and worked at Ourisman Dodge and 2 & 17 Storage. Gary enjoyed his classic cars and spending time with his precious grandchildren and family.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Kathleen Johnston; sons Gary W. Johnston, Jr. (Sandy), Darren W. Johnston (Reaven); daughter Sheria A. Katakowski (Chris); stepchildren Butch Fisher, Jr. and Dawn Decatur; 11 grandchildren Eva, Rileigh, Deacon, Jason, Destiny, Rusty Jr., Brittany, Kyleigh, Aiden, Addison, and Taylor; brother Darrell Johnston (Theresa); nieces Blair Smith (Peter) and Jenna Johnston (John); aunt Dixie Marlow; brother-in-laws Mark Hinken (Kathy), Jerald Hinken (Pam); Steve Hinken (Tammy); sister-in-law Joyce Hinken; and many other nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother Olive Lloyd; and stepson, Christopher Fisher.
A service will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.

My childhood is full of memories from Christmases at Uncle Bill & Aunt Bonnie's house and our fun cousin, Big Gary. He, Darrell, and Uncle Todd were always goofing off and made it so much fun. My heart goes out to Kitty, Darrell, Theresa, Little Gary, Darren, Sheria, Blair, and Jenna (and all the rest of the family). He sure did leave behind some wonderful people. We love y'all.

My heart is broken over the loss of my nephew, Gary. He was always full of fun and could dance right into your heart. He was a delightful person and I loved him so much and will always.
