Mr. Gary Lee Kay, 54, of Walterboro, entered into rest Saturday evening, January 10, 2026, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.
Born June 30, 1971, in Charleston, South Carolina, he was a son of Mrs. Gloria Haskell Kay and the late Mr. Thomas Leftwich Kay, Jr. He was the head of maintenance for the Holiday Inn in Walterboro and will forever be remembered for his uncanny ability to do anything. Gary was always the center of attention and the life of the party. He enjoyed the great outdoors and riding in the boat as well as fishing and duck hunting.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Walterboro are: his wife, Kelli Kay; a brother, Tommy Kay and his daughter Chloe of Walterboro; three step-children, Heydi Helmueller, Stephen Helmueller, and Ryan Helmueller (Savannah); three step-grandchildren, Aiden, Ariah, and Kolton; and his three fur-babies, Turbo, Patience, and Odie.
In lieu of flowers donations may be directed in his memory to: American Liver Foundation, Post Office Box 299, West Orange, New Jersey 07052.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock Saturday morning, January 17, 2026, from the graveside at Live Oak Cemetery, South Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro.
