Gary Fred Kennedy, 83, of Graham, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 10 a.m. in Pioneer Cemetery in Graham.
Gary was born on February 14, 1942, in Graham, Texas, to the late Fred and Edna (Cretsinger) Kennedy. A lifelong resident of Young County, Gary dedicated his life to agriculture. He worked as a cattle rancher and magazine publisher, focusing on junior livestock shows and helping guide young exhibitors in selecting, raising, training, and showing animals.
Gary took great pride in mentoring youth and supporting their agricultural pursuits. He found joy in spending time outdoors and sharing stories about his extended family and heritage. Although an only child, Gary treasured the time he spent with cousins and relatives, forming memories he loved to share with his children.
Outside of his ranching and publishing work, Gary enjoyed helping others pursue their hobbies—from livestock shows to target shooting—and was always willing to lend a hand or share his knowledge.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Mechelle Bates of Fort Worth, and his son, Ty Kennedy of Graham.
In lieu of flowers, the family fondly requests that donations be made to Virginia’s House – A Family Resource Center, an organization established as a Children’s Advocacy Center by community leaders who sought to break the cycle of family violence. This was a cause close to Gary’s heart, and he believed deeply in supporting their mission to help children and families in need.
