Gary Raymond Kittilson Sr. January 15, 1944 – March 5, 2025
Gary Raymond Kittilson Sr., born to Ingvald and Agnes Kittilson on January 15, 1944, in Seattle, Washington, passed away on March 5, 2025, at the age of 81.
Gary was a man of ceaseless energy and multifaceted talents. He found immense joy in life's simple yet profound pleasures: hiking, fishing, woodworking, rockhounding and hunting. He was a gun enthusiast, loved old country music and enjoyed watching western movies. Gary's zest for life and creative pursuits left a lasting imprint on those fortunate enough to know him.
A testament to his resilience and service, Gary proudly served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant from February 1963 to March 1966. He was originally stationed at Fort Hood, Texas but spent a majority of his time in Korea. After his discharge from the Army, he traveled to Vietnam, where he applied his technical skills as a helicopter mechanic under challenging circumstances. His career later saw him working for Crowley Maritime in Seattle, Washington, epitomizing his dedication and tireless work ethic. Additionally, Gary's legacy lives on in the two family homes he personally crafted-a reflection of his ingenuity and devotion.
Family was the cornerstone of Gary's life. He is survived by his five children: Dawn Rodin (Tacoma, WA), Gary Kittilson Jr. (Auburn, WA), Katrina Green (Kingston, TN), Jennifer Kittilson (Northport, WA), and Marlene Veith (Pullman, WA). He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Chelsea, Sarah, Benjamin, Kaidance, Kirya, Sophia, Ayden, Lila, and Alex.
Gary is also survived by his siblings: Larry Kittilson (Dunn Center, ND), Ritchie Kittilson (Spokane, WA), Bonnie Fandrich (Dickinson, ND), and Peggy Drews (Menasha, WI). He joins in eternal rest his late siblings, Jimmy Kittilson and Donna Majer.
Gary's life was a remarkable story of passion, perseverance, and love. He was an excellent story-teller, had a fantastic sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. His absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit will forever endure in the hearts of his family and friends. A celebration of his extraordinary life will be announced at a later date.
May Gary rest in peace, leaving behind a legacy of love and inspiration.
