Gary Joseph Kluenenberg, age 82, of Detroit Lakes, MN, died February 4, 2025, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Gary was born August 21, 1942, to Joe and Leona (Roggenkamp) Kluenenberg in Wadena, MN. He attended grade school and graduated from Wadena High School in 1960.
After graduation, Gary enlisted in the United States Army where he served until 1962. He was in the Pentagon in the United States Army Special Security Detachment in Washington D.C. for 18 months. In 1963, he went into the Army National Guard until November of 1966. When he left, he was an E5. He started working for Northwestern Bell Telephone in 1963, working several different positions in different towns until being promoted to management in 1967. He retired early in 1991 with 27 years. He went to work for Wilde Construction as a construction Supervisor for 12 years, working in different states and then running an office in Sioux Falls, SD after which he retired permanently. Gary married Karen (Halstad) Holm in Las Vegas, NV on March 30, 1985.
Mourning the loss of Gary, his wife Karen of Detroit Lakes, his children; Roxane Kluenenberg, Cary Kluenenberg, Dawn Kohanek, Heather (Christian) Bergseid, and Kimberly Kluenenberg. step-children; Donna (Brad) Huseby and Mike Holm; 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren; his siblings; Beatrice Kupfer, Rosemary (Denny) Haugen, Dick (Ranaye) Kluenenberg, Donna (Steven) Oien, Joanne (Gus) Andrade, and brother-in-law Gary Achter.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Maureen Achter, Jeanette (George) Wallgren, Jim Kupfer and brother-in-law's Jim Stadium and Randy DeVries.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Lake Eunice Evangelical Church Building Fund.
