Gary Knouff passed away quietly on January 9th, 2025, surrounded by his girls. He leaves behind his beloved wife Myra (nee Shinas), his daughters Sarah (James) Serafin and Jordan (Karl) Larew, grandchildren Olivia and Benjamin Serafin and Stella and Niko Larew, brother Steve (Marg) Knouff and sister Cindy (Dan) Cordill. He is preceded in death by his parents Rollin and Inabelle Knouff.
Gary was born in Warsaw, Indiana and graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Accounting. He moved to Ohio in 1981 but always remembered his Hoosier roots. He loved all things sports, especially his Indiana University Hoosiers, Cleveland "Indians", Cavaliers, and even the Browns.
He was an avid golfer and was able to accomplish 2 bucket list items: a hole in one and golfing below his age.
He proudly served in the Air Force and spent his time as a member of the coveted Air Force Band. A musician at heart, he also played the string base and tuba in various ensembles and community groups and passed his talent and passion for music to his daughters and grandchildren.
He was a gentle and compassionate soul who fiercely loved his family. His witty sense of humor was enjoyed by all who knew him. Gary fought the good fight all throughout his illness and will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 16 from 4pm to 6pm with a Trisagion service at 6pm at Sunset Memorial Chapel, located at 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, OH. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 17 at 12pm at St Paul Greek Orthodox Church, located at 4548 Wallings Road, North Royalton OH. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org)
