Gary L'Eon Obituary

L'Eon, Gary Louis

82, of St. Petersburg, passed away on March 13, 2026. Gary was born on October 29, 1943 in Flint, Michigan to Ella and Louis Solomon. He moved to St. Petersburg at a young age. His father passed away when Gary was a child, and his mother married Harvey L'Eon, who became his father through adoption in 1951.

Gary was a graduate of Boca Ciega High School and the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy. In 1966 he married the love of his life, Sara Jane Parker, and together they raised four children. Gary was pharmacist in St. Petersburg for 48 years. He was gifted in serving his customers and many of them remember him fondly.

A devoted family man, Gary retired in 2014 to care for his wife, Sara, until her passing in 2017 after 51 years of marriage. He cherished time with his family, gathering for holidays, birthdays, and Gator games. Gary was a devout Catholic and active member of the Knights of Columbus. He served his church in many roles, including lector, finance committee member, St. Vincent de Paul volunteer (Holy Cross Chapter), and head of Holy Cross Bingo.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Sara; his parents, Ella and Harvey L'Eon; his father, Louis Solomon; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Kevin and Kristin L'Eon, Christina and Rees Vaughan, David and Jenni L'Eon, and Amy and Keith Aeschbach; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his sister-in-law, Marion Wilson; two aunts; and his cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Gary took great pride in his family and found his greatest joy in being "Papa" to his beloved grandchildren. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, humor, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

A visitation will be held on March 24 from 6-8 pm, at Anderson-McQueen, 38th Ave. N., St. Petersburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on March 25, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, St. Petersburg, with interment to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Clearwater. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gary's name to PARC Center for Disabilities, parc-fl.org.

Dear Christie and Amy, We are so sorry for your loss. Christie, you always spoke so lovingly of your dad . We know you both made him very proud. You have both been sources of support and comfort to the people who know you.

I send my deepest condolences to the L'Eon family. Gary was a wonderful person, and I will always remember him as both an early friend and a huge catalyst in my life. I met Gary (and Sara) in pharmacy school. He was one year ahead of me, but we became good friends at our first pharmacy positions at Florida Retired Persons Pharmacy in SP. Gary was my pharmacy intern preceptor (could not have had a better one), and a year later I was honored to have him serve as my best man when I married in 1969. So for me, Gary was a huge part of my early life. I firmly believe that Providence led me to cross paths with Gary at both UF and at my first pharmacy position. He was a catalyst for my first pharmacy position; and at this same location I met my bride of 57 years, Mary. Thank you, Gary for a life well lived. See you on the other side of the Jordan, my friend.
