Gary Leonard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Parsell Funeral Homes-Hardesty Chapel - Bridgeville on Dec. 19, 2023.
Gary William Leonard, age 65, of Bridgeville, DE, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Delaware Hospice. He was born in Patuxent, MD, on Friday, October 31, 1958, son of Jean (Taylor) Leonard and the late William F. Leonard of Delmar, Maryland.
After marrying the love of his life, Cynthia Dawn Leonard, he built a lifelong career with Messick and Gray Construction, Inc. in Bridgeville, DE, retiring as a general manager after 28 dedicated years. Mr. Leonard's love of the outdoors was evident by his love of hunting and he did that as often as he could.
He was a collector of different firearms and took great pride in his collection gathered throughout the years. More than anything, Mr. Leonard loved spending time with those he held most dear, especially his grandchildren who were the apples of his eyes. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His presence will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who had the good fortune to know and love him.
Mr. Leonard is survived by his beloved wife, Dawn Leonard; his children: Taylor "Ty" Leonard (Jen), and Krista H. Tallent (Joey); his grandchildren: Abrielle, Landon, and Weston; and his siblings: Terri Baker (Dick), Susan Disharoon (Vic), and John Leonard (Nancy).
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 2:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE19933, where friends may visit beginning at 1:00 PM.

The last time we saw Gary, he was on his in-laws roof... always working, busy... he would do anything in the world for them. He was a wonderful Santa at our Christmas dinners, white beard and all... and a part of our family for oiver 40 years. We will all miss him terribly !
