Gary Lee Lockwood, age 70, of Zanesfield, Ohio, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family and dog on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on March 13, 1953, to the late Wendell Watson and Helen Marie (Birt) Lockwood. He is also preceded in death by his son, (GySgt) David S. Spicer (USMC); grandsons: Timothy Justin Stacy, David S. Spicer II, and Bryson Lee Stacy; and his brother, Randy Lockwood.
On May 17, 1980, he married the former Sandra Louise Davis in Zanesfield, Ohio.
Along with his wife of 44 years, he is also survived by his children: Tara Lynn (Todd) Joseph, Steve Lockwood, Thomas H. (Tracy) Stacy, and Timothy E. (Amber Stiltner) Stacy; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Judy Brady, brother, Todd Lockwood; his dog he loved dearly, Gunny; many nieces and nephews; and Adam (Angie) Thomas and the rest of his EODMC family.
Gary worked at DAB for 8 years, drove truck hauling grain for different farmers in the area, and then drove truck for Ohio Ready Mix for 33 years. He also previously served as a township trustee for Jefferson Township. In his free time, he enjoyed working on cars and tractors and fishing in his pond with his children and grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be missed deeply.
Pastor Eric Cook will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine. Visitation will be on Monday, February 5, 2024, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and also one hour before the service on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow the service in Zanesfield Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gunnery Sergeant David S. Spicer Memorial Foundation, 7476 County Road 2, Zanesfield, Ohio 43360 to help provide scholarships to Logan County students.
