Gary Lowery Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 26, 2026.
Gary Lane Lowery passed from this world on March 24, 2026. He was born and raised in West Monroe, Louisiana to parents Evelyn and William Lowery.

He is survived by sister, Joy Holmes and husband, Kevin; nephew ,Heath Lowery and wife Lakin; special friend, Gayle Randall;, several cousins; and extended family.

He is preceded in death by parents, Evelyn and William Lowery; brother, Gerald Lowery; and nephews, Ricky and Lamar Lowery.

Gary graduated from West Monroe High School and attended ULM. He then moved to Florida where he enjoyed a happy adventurous life. He eventually moved back to West Monroe where he worked for General Motors in Monroe until the plant closed.

He loved his job and the friends he made there. But he would always label himself a loner and could be perfectly content with a cat curled up in his lap while he watched his favorite tv shows "Law and Order" and "Survivor." He had a kind and compassionate heart and made sure all of his pets were adequately cared for.

He could make anyone laugh with his clever, spontaneous quips, and did so quite frequently.

But as time went on, he began suffering with numerous health issues, and most recently cancer. He had just completed all of his radiation and chemo treatments 4 weeks ago and was declared cancer free. During the duration of the treatments, while very difficult, he insisted on driving himself to the treatment locations, so as "not to burden anyone".

But as the Scriptures say, God appoints the timing of life's beginning and end. While Gary faced many turbulent times in his life, he assured his loved ones that he was at peace with his Creator and "all is well with my soul".

He is truly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his sister, Joy, who supported him with unwavering support and encouragement through good times and hard times.

Thanks to all for your prayers and acts of kindness.
