Gary Lutz Obituary

It is with deep respect and admiration that we announce the passing of Gary David Lutz on July 13, 2025. Born on November 11, 1958, Gary dedicated his life to his family, friends, and community, leaving behind a legacy defined by joy, generosity, and love.
At 21, Gary hopped on his Harley and rode west until he stopped in Las Vegas. He was a frequent visitor to Vegas and could be heard yelling "BUSTOLA!" whenever a dealer would bust in blackjack. He annually went "Up North" either camping in the "covered wagon" or staying at a resort. He fished with all his relatives, especially his nephews and nieces, and was known for cooking an awesome fish fry.
Gary loved sports, both as a participant and as a spectator. He excelled at football, anchoring the middle of a stout defensive line helping the Menasha Bluejays to a conference championship in 1975. Gary was a loyal fan of all Wisconsin sports teams and attended numerous Badger and Packer football games. He enjoyed hosting family and friends for football games in his Packer-themed viewing rooms. Gary's favorite team was the Cleveland Guardians (Indians), and he and his father Richard shared that passion and were both die-hard fans. A road trip to Jacob's Field with Richard provided lasting memories of the Tribe.
His exceptional skill and enthusiasm for grilling and smoking brought family and friends together, becoming a cornerstone of many gatherings.
His compassion extended to animals, particularly his dogs, with a special affection for Roxy, his constant companion.
Gary is survived by his siblings: Jeff (Leah) Lutz, Paul (Susan) Lutz, Julie (James) Wood, Michael Lutz, and Andrea (Timothy) Kippenhan, plus numerous nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by each of them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Rose Lutz, whose memory endures through the values they imparted to their family.
The Lutz family extends sincere appreciation to the compassionate caregivers at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, Care Partners in Hortonville and St. Croix Hospice for their dedicated service during Gary's final days.

Visitation for Gary David Lutz will take place at St. Peter and Paul Parish of Hortonville on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM, officiated by Fr. Phil Schoofs. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Appleton will be scheduled at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Fox Valley Humane Society, N115 Two Mile Road, Appleton, WI 54914 (foxvalleypets.org)
For those unable to attend, the family invites you to light a candle in Gary’s memory and reflect on the meaningful moments you shared with him.
Gary will be remembered for his kindness, steadfast faith, and the positive influence he had on all who knew him. As we pay our respects, let us honor his legacy by cherishing our relationships and embracing life’s simple joys.
