Gary L. Maag, 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 5th in his home of 52 years.
Gary was born October 22, 1945 to William and Hazel Maag. Gary graduated from Mogadore High School in 1963, where he met his wife Connie of 57 years. He was employed with the FW Albrecht Grocery Company as a supervisor for 35 years. Gary served on the Mogadore Fire Department as a captain for 43 years and coached Mogadore girls Varsity Track for many years. Gary loved his community and served for the Village of Mogadore as a groundskeeper following his retirement for 23 years.
Gary is survived by his wife Connie Jo; 3 children, Gary (Patty) Maag, Kelli (Dennis) Taylor, Chad (Tonya) Maag; grandchildren Jacqui (Micah), Bo (Lauren), Andrea (Alan), Holli (Cameron), Natalie, Ashlee (Jake), Conner, David, Maverick, Max; and 8 great grandchildren. Gary is also survived by his sister Linda Timblin; brother-in-law Billy (Rhonda) Kerzie; and his special Aunt Mary Herr who he spent countless summers with on the farm.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents; his in laws, William and Helen Kerzie; and brother-in-law, Ronald Timblin. Gary will be greatly missed for his generosity, hard work and sense of humor.
Friends and family will be received Wednesday, May 10th at Donovan Funeral Home, 35 S. Cleveland Ave. Mogadore, OH 44260 from 3 to 6 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 6 p.m. with the Mogadore Fire Department conducting the “Last Alarm.” In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mogadore Fire Department who supported Gary in many ways throughout the last couple of years.
