Gary Dean McCleese, age 76, of Cranston Road, Morehead, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 28, 2026, at UK- Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born December 21, 1949, in Lewis County, Kentucky, a son of the late Jess McCleese and Flora Sparks McCleese Henry.

Dean proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a member of Muses Mill Christian Holiness Church in Muses Mills, Kentucky and loved going to church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, going out to eat and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger McCleese, Jack McCleese and one sister, Carol Jefferson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jackie Holbrook McCleese; two sons, Clifton Dean McCleese of Vanceburg, Kentucky, Jeremy (Nina) McCleese of Morehead, Kentucky; one daughter, Candy Sue (Scott) Brinegar of Clay City, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Josh, Andrea, Kayla, Cody, Aron, Kalie, Maggie; five great-grandchildren, Ruby, Leigha, Bennett, Ryker, Landon; four brothers, Gale McCleese of Decatur, Alabama; David McCleese of Kissimmee, Florida,Vinson McCleese of Flatwoods, Kentucky, Randy McCleese of Rowan County, Kentucky; two sisters, Martha Campbell of Cynthiana, Kentucky and Nancy Thornsberry of Chillicothe. Ohio, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be held, 12 noon, Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street, Vanceburg, Kentucky, with Brother Doug Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in Thomas Cemetery on St. Rt. 377 in Lewis County, Kentucky.

Friends may visit after 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 5, 2026, until the service hour at Dickerson Funeral Home.

Military Honors will be conducted at the grave side by Monte Lewis Stamm Post 5438.

Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg, Kentucky, is honored to serve the family of Gary Dean McCleese.
