Gary Lee McCune, of Charlotte, a guy with a huge collection of stuff that "he might need one day," died December 5, 2021 at the age of 73. He was born October 12, 1948 in Charlotte to Howard and Anne (Harag) McCune. As a crop farmer for Stan Wheaton, he learned how to tinker and fix lots of things using what was around, thus his collection started. In his early years, Gary enjoyed riding motorcycles, and having company over to visit was one of his favorite things throughout his life. Always willing to help anyone in need, he was able to share his abilities to do anything and fix anything for friends and family. Gary worked at Fisher Body as an assembly worker, retiring after 30 years of service. Gary was very proud of his family and all of their accomplishments. He enjoyed breakfast at the Eaton Place restaurant every Saturday with friends, and would often talk about his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Gary is survived by his children, Scott (Rachel) McCune and Carolyn (Dave) Hastings; 3 grandchildren, Kyle Archer, Kyra McCune and Daniel McCune; 3 great-grandchildren, Keagan, Callahan, and Marlowe Archer; father, Howard (Lorraine) McCune (aka Papa Bear); brother, Ken (Pat) McCune; and sister, Gail (Terry) Weber, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Anna McCune in 2020; and his mother, Anne.
Friends and family are encouraged to support Gary's family by sharing memories on his tribute page at www.prayfuneral.com. The family will hold a Celebration of Life for both Gary and Anna at a later date. The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home.
