Gary B. McDermott

Gary McDermott, age 84, of Dormont, passed away peacefully at home on August 29, 2025, with his beloved significant other, Louise, by his side. He was the cherished son of the late John and Ida McDermott. Gary was a devoted father to Theresa Bellante, stepfather to Sherry McMahon and Freddie Lay. A second father to Joe (Sarah), Troy, and Chad (Shannon) Colondrea, and a loving grandfather to Zach, Brody, Lexi, Samantha, Kaelle, Anthony, Alisha, Gianna, Roman, Angelo, Natalia, Aaliyah, Aubrey, and Dante. Great grandfather to Miley, Alayah, and Dash. He is preceded in death by his brothers Jack and Larry McDermott and his sister Audrey Adams. Gary was a fun loving, a thrill seeker, and adventurous. He was bold, fearless, and full of life. He enjoyed all outdoor activities especially, water skiing, fishing, golfing, and horseback riding. A proud U.S. Army veteran, Gary served his country with honor. He later dedicated many years of service as a tax assessor for Allegheny County. A private graveside service will be held at the Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
