Gary "GABE" McKinney, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on December 16, 2023, at the age of 83. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born on June 14, 1940, Gary grew up in a loving family. His parents, Milton McKinney and Trillia Faye Taylor, instilled in him the values of hard work, perseverance, and compassion that shaped his remarkable life.
Gary was a dedicated U.S. Army veteran who proudly served his country. His commitment to serving others extended beyond his military service as he went on to dedicate 35 years of his life as a mechanical designer/engineer for Continental Electronics in Dallas. His tireless work and expertise contributed significantly to the success of the company.
Outside of his professional career, Gary cherished time spent with his family and friends. He was a pillar of strength and love, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer words of wisdom. Gary's warm smile and genuine care touched the lives of everyone around him.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Nita McKinney. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them and served as a testament to enduring love and commitment.
He also leaves behind his adoring children: Ronda McKinney-Bryant, Terri Lynn Miller, Roland Eugene Brents, Rodney Brents, and Gary Don McKinney. His influence as a father was immeasurable, and he shared unbreakable bonds with each of his children.
Gary often spoke with pride about his eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. They were the light of his life and brought endless joy to his days.
He was preceded in death by his brother Billy Ray McKinney, sister Linda Ann Thomas, son-in-law Allen Miller.
A visitation to honor Gary's life will be held on December 21, 2023, at Parker - Ashworth Funeral Home, located at 22175 S Washington Kaufman, TX 75142. The visitation will commence at 6:00 PM and conclude at 8:00 PM. It is an opportunity for all those who loved him to come together, share stories, and find solace in one another.
In celebrating the remarkable life of Gary "GABE" McKinney, let us remember the indelible mark he left on our hearts. May his gentle soul find eternal peace and may his legacy of love and kindness continue to inspire us all.
