Gary W. Nerud, 72, of Washington, IL, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2025, at Carle Health Methodist in Peoria, IL.

He was born in Peoria, the son of Joseph and Mary Nerud. He married Penny Shurts on October 9, 1987, in Peoria.

Surviving are his wife, five children, Joseph Nerud of Canton, IL, Ashley Brasher of Texas, Kristi L. Eve of Morton, IL, Jacob Nerud (Heidi) of Pekin, IL and Jordan Nerud of Washington. Also surviving is his bonus daughter, Trisha Plymale of Washington, IL. Further surviving are four grandchildren, Tobie Gall, Logan Naylor, Alexis Berry, and Maycee Plymale; and a host of nieces, nephews, one sister, Cindy Starke of Three Lakes, WI; one sister in law, Cathy (Rick) Draggist of Peoria, and one brother-in-law, Rick (Alice) Shurts of Mapleton, IL. further survive. His parents, one brother, Ronald Campbell, brother-in-law Edwin Starke, and many aunts and uncles all preceded him in death.

He worked as a bouncer for many years at Stage 2 in Peoria. He also worked for B&W Auto Parts, Parts Plus & Bumper to Bumper, as a general manager, retiring in 2015.

A passionate Yankees fan and a dedicated builder and rider of motorcycles, he proudly owned and rode his beloved Harley Davidson. His exceptional craftsmanship and love for the open road earned him prestigious recognition at the 2015 Grand Nationals Weekend, where he clinched both the prestigious "First in Show" and "Builder's Choice" awards. He was also passionate about classic cars, with a particular love for the timeless elegance of Corvettes.

At Gary's request, cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of Gary's life is scheduled for Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Alpha Bravo in Washington, beginning at 1 pm.
