Gary L. Olson

Langford, SD: The memorial service for Gary L. Olson will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Langford. Pastor Dan Cole and Diane Hoines will officiate the service.

Gary Lee Olson was born January 20, 1957 in Webster, SD to Richard and Berdene Olson of Langford, SD. Gary graduated from Langford High School in 1975. He attended Northern State College In Aberdeen where he received a BA degree in Business. Following graduation he worked on the family farm.

Gary enjoyed traveling to Norway for a family reunion along with learning more about his Norwegian heritage. He also enjoyed visiting family in Minnesota and Texas.

He was active in the community, often meeting friends for coffee or providing a helping hand to someone in need. He often spent time visiting with friends or interacting with his loyal dogs.

Gary passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at his home in Langford, at the age of 69.

Gary is survived by his sister, Linda (Mark) Haynie of Universal City, Texas and their children, Zachary and Elizabeth Haynie; along with his sister, Suzanne Bickett of Minnetonka, MN with her children, Lindsey and Matthew.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Berdene Olson.
