Gary Palsgrove Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Welch Funeral Home - Marks Chapel on Feb. 25, 2026.
Mary Palsgrove recently lost her husband, Gary Palsgrove, on February 9, 2026. A

long-time resident of Westmoreland County, Gary's passing was quite peaceful, at the

age of 87.

Born on November 30 th , 1938, to Arthur and Lottie Janet Palsgrove in Washington, D.

C., Gary lived his life in joy, happiness, great care for friends and family, as well as hard

work. He believed that the beauty of the natural world was a joyous reflection of God's

handiwork. He nurtured both the earth and the people around him. He was active in the

GHCP community, served many years in various positions in the U.S. Coast Guard

Auxiliary where his volunteer work ranged from seven river rescues to performing safety

checks on residents' boats.

Gary was a graduate of American University. As an avid sports fan, he loved the

Redskins and attended many of their games. A devoted reader, he enjoyed history, the

arts, and military-related books. Gary enjoyed traveling and always returned with many

stories to share of his journeys. He was also an athlete, completing numerous

marathons. And Gary and Mary enjoyed taking trips on their boat.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Mary, his daughter, Kim, two sons, Andy and Ryan,

and three grandchildren as well as Mary's son Rick, daughter Diana, and grandsons

Matthew and Sage. He was welcomed into heaven by his mother, father and younger

brother. He will be so missed by family and friends. We all rejoice in his recently found

eternal life and trust that he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 26 th at11AM at Ebenezer United

Methodist Church, 144 Ebenezer Church Road, Oldhams, VA 22529. A fellowship

luncheon will be served immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu

of flowers, please consider donations to the Children's Cancer Research Foundation.
