Gary J. Penrod, 70, of Kansas City went to be with the Lord on October 27th surrounded by his family. Gary was born July 21st, 1940 in Butler Pennsylvania to Harry E. and Coletta C. Penrod. He met Patricia K. Long and they married in January 1986 where they joined their families. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Virginia Southworth and Jeannine Bruno, three brothers Harry L. Penrod, Charles K. Penrod and Donald Penrod, three nephews Butch Penrod, Lynn Penrod and Joe Karenbauer. He is survived by his wife of 24 years and 1 sister Lorraine Karenbauer. He is also survived by eleven children and their spouses: Susan and Mike Day, Raymond Long, Wayne and Diane Long, Ronald Long, Carmen and Chris Boyce, Elaine and Jeff Lyons, Richard and Charmin Long, Robert and Jacque Long, Katherine and Scott Bresette, Beckie Long and Kimberly and Rod Forshay. As well as thirty-two Grandchildren: Jason and Megan Day, Kristen and John Whipple, Jessica Day, Bryan Day, Logan Long, Abby Long, Nicole Long, Shelby Long, Jeremy Long, Anthony Leo, Mathew Leo, Andrew Boyce, Nolan Lyons, Sarah Lyons, Chance Long, Dakota Long, Jaden Long, Ryli Long, Hollie Long, Jack Long, Mason Long, Kristy Engvig, Brittany Engvig, Bradley Engvig, Madysen Bresette, Jordan Bresette, Chloe Long, Alex Forshay, Ryan Forshay, Nick Forshay and 1 Great Granddaughter Peyton Smith Memorial service will be at St. Matthew Apostle Parish located at 8001 Longview Road. Rosary will be at 9:30am with mass following at 10:00am Friday, October 29th, 2010. Loving memories and condolences for the family may be left online at www.dwnewcomers.com. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to Kansas City Hospice, Kansas City Cancer Center, or the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and caretakers who have helped him through his illness.

Pat,
I am so sorry to learn of Gary's passing. We sure had some good times when the three of us worked at GM together! I have only great memories of Gary.
