Born on October 12, 1952, to Dewayne and Helen Phelps, Gary lived his life as a man of great character according to his strong values of integrity, faith, and hard work. A lifelong resident of the Northeast Colorado plains, he spent countless hours working the land as a wheat farmer. Through long and dusty days, sunshine and storms, good crops and bad, he found a quiet, steady peace in his hours on the tractor.
For Gary, farming wasn't just a livelihood, but a reflection of the grit and determination that defined him. The seeds he planted not only grow strong in the earth, but also in the lives of those who knew and loved him. Gary's Lutheran faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was a devoted member of his church, not only attending services faithfully, but also serving his congregation with humility and quiet strength. Above all, Gary cherished his family.
He is survived by his wife Sheila, children Jessica and husband Cameron, Nathan and wife Nadalie, and by his beloved grandchildren: Graycen, Wyatt, Luke, Brandon, Dillon, and Audrey. His legacy lives on in them through the values he instilled, the love that he gave, and the support he al-ways offered.
Gary's presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. In our memories, he remains at sunrise over the wheat fields, in the quiet peace of a Sunday morning, and in the laughter of his grandchildren.
