Gary Oliver Pitman, 84 of Danielsville, reunited with his loving wife of 52 years Mary Ross Pitman in heaven on May 7th, 2025. Born November 9, 1940, in Hoschton, Georgia, he was the son of the late Edward Eugene and Onie Kilgore Pitman.
Gary honorably and proudly served in the U.S. Army as a MP from 1963-1965 and retired from the University of Georgia after 30 years. After retiring, Gary and Mary chose a country life where he loved working outdoors. He was an avid train hobbyist and collector of Betty Boop.
Gary is survived by his children: Terry Micheal Pitman (Lisa), Sheri Michelle Brunken (Mike), and Gary Oliver Pitman Jr. (Joy); grandchildren: Michael Brunken (Missy), Brittany Workman (Mark), Johnathan Brunken, Gracie Brunken, Jamie Wilkins (Bradley), Daniel Brunken, Kevin Brunken, Tyler Wilkins, and Gary “Oliver” Pitman III; great grandchildren: Aiden and Adalyn Workman, Hudson Graham, M.J. and Misha Brunken; brother: Daryl Pitman (Tudi); cousins: Lewis, Leon, and Kenneth Pitman; and dogs: Tater, Laverne, and Shirley.
