Gary B. Purdy, 73, of Central Lake, passed away peacefully at home on January 15, 2023. Gary was born on September 23, 1949, the son of William and Ruth (Oliver) Purdy.
He was a lifelong resident of Central Lake where he worked at Texas Instruments and then Anchor Lamina in Bellaire. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and loved to play poker.
Gary’s greatest love was spending time with his “favorite” grandson Garrett. Not only attending all of his sporting events, but also teaching him how to hunt and fish.
On June 28, 1969, in Central Lake, he married Susan M. Druckenmiller who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Daryl (Angie) Purdy of Central Lake, Brian (Andreia) Druckenmiller of Central Lake, Karen (Craig) Stites of Big Rapids, MI, grandson Garrett Purdy of Central Lake, a sister Connie Slade of Manistee, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 21 at 11:00 a.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Visitation will be on Friday, January 20 from 6-8 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Township.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Lake Boy’s Baseball program.
