Gary Readman

GARY E. READMAN Gary E. Readman was born in Littlefork, MN on August 1, 1938, to William "Ed" and Clara (Klippness) Readman. Gary grew up in International Falls, MN and graduated from Falls Senior High School in 1956. He passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. He served for the International Falls Police Department and Koochiching County Sheriff's Office until he retired in 1996. He was united in marriage to Joanne (Paquin) Readman on May 18, 1991. Gary was a member of the Masonic Lodge and an active member of both the Elks Lodge and Zion Lutheran Church. In his early years he enjoyed going to the cabin in Paddy Bay in the north arm of Rainy Lake and coaching his sons' and their friends' hockey teams. He loved spending winters with his wife Joanne in Gulf Shores, Alabama, and summers at Dove Island on Rainy Lake. He enjoyed having coffee and playing hours of cards and games with his wife, family and lifelong coworkers and friends. Gary was a generous, genuine, and caring man. His calmness, patience and joy for life and love of his family only grew over the years. He was always an optimist, and his unforgettable smile will outlast his years. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harry Readman, nephew William "Bill" Readman, first wife Carol Cassibo and granddaughter Breanne Kay Readman. Gary is survived by his wife Joanne; his children Scott (Cathy) Readman, Stephen "Steve" (Wendy) Readman, Steve (Lisa) Havluck and Jill Hardekopf (Bruce Ferch); 8 Grandchildren Andrea (Bryan) Reuter, Beau (Kirby) Readman, Dillon (Ally) Readman, Brandon Winger, Paige Hardekopf (Travis), Courtney Hardekopf (Eli), Julia Havluck and Olivia Santee (Brad); 10 Great Grandchildren Teagan, Marco, Liam, Lillian, Iris, Nakota, Evergreen, Hayden, Brantley and Emilia; Niece, Sue (Brad) Weum; and numerous family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at Zion Lutheran Church on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time.
