Gary Wayne Register

Gary Wayne Register, 69, of Ellerbe, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 23, 2025 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Richmond, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 31, 1956, in Miami, Florida, son of the late James Allen Register and Mary Catherine Johnson Register.
Gary was an active member of Joy Free Will Baptist Church. In his prior working years, Gary worked as a machine technician in textiles, lastly with Burlington Industries. He enjoyed working and making money. He also had a passion for fixing and repairing cars.
Gary loved fishing, talking, and also had a passion for cooking. He loved his family dearly and was a fierce protector of them. He will be missed by his family and everyone that knew and loved him.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Neff.
Left to cherish Gary's memories is his wife of 44 years, Faye Smith Register of the home; daughter, Angela Ard (Robbie) of Ellerbe; son, Steve Randall Butler, Jr. of Hamlet; grandchildren, Justin Ard (Rebecka), McKayla Ard, Brooke Rape, Abbi Chavis (AJ), Karlee Butler, Connor Smith, Remi Ard, and Korbyn Ard; great-grandchildren, Randon, Linlee, Ayvionna, Juziah, and Valerie; brothers, Bobby Register of Athens, Georgia, Jimmy Register of Albemarle, and Darrell Register (Lucy) of Clinton; and sister, Susie Dickerman of Fayetteville.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 1:00-2:00pm at Joy Free Will Baptist Church, Rockingham.
The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 2:00pm, with Pastor Lloyd O. Grant, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Circle Church Cemetery, Rockingham.
At other times, the family will receive friends at 159 N. Eagle Lane, Ellerbe.
