Gary C. Renaud, 70, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021, with his loving family by his side. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Gary's life on Saturday, April 24th. We will go in procession from Fay Brother's Life Celebration Funeral Home (1 West Boylston Street, West Boylston) at 10:30 a.m. to Mount Vernon Cemetery (Church Street, West Boylston) with the graveside service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Born August 20, 1950, to the late Claire O. (Boyden) and late Raymond A. Renaud of Worcester, Gary spent his youth in Boylston, Leominster, and Sterling— with a brief period in California. After settling in Princeton, he graduated from Wachusett Regional High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S Air Force where he trained as an Electronic Warfare Specialist. Although he was stationed in Thailand amidst the Vietnam War, Gary spoke fondly of his time overseas and those he forged relationships with during his tenure. Following his experience in the Air Force, Gary embarked on a career as a geophysical technician with Weston Geophysical where he surveyed fault lines off the coast of New England. In 1974, he began dating the love of his life, Susan, and they married in 1976. Following their wedding, Gary accepted a position with Digital Equipment Corporation as a Computer Hardware Technician and relocated to Oregon, where he and Susan lived for 13 years. Gary and his wife then moved to the St. Louis, Missouri area, where Gary worked as a network specialist and where they had their two sons, Adam and Phillip. In 1996, the family of 4 decided to return to Massachusetts, settling in West Boylston, to be closer to family. Gary spent his free time with family and friends. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling, hiking, playing golf, and hosting large family gatherings at his home. He also had a passion for photography and eventually developed his own photography business. Gary enjoyed science fiction— whether in the form of film or book. Mr. Renaud leaves many behind that love him and will miss him dearly including his loving wife of 45 years, Susan M.(Gill) Renaud, and his children: Adam and Phillip Renaud, both of West Boylston. Additionally, he will be missed by Paul White of Littleton, MA, his siblings: John Renaud, Somersworth, NH, Stephen Renaud and his wife, Jeannette, N. Brookfield, MA, Anne Renaud, Munson, MA, Julie Evans and her husband, Kevin, Milan, NH, Patty Renaud, Portland, ME; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. To Suzie, Adam and Philip; our heartfelt sympathy, prayers and condolences go to you and Gary's entire family. Our memories and the times we all shared together, especially the years in Oregon, will always be remembered fondly. Gary was always up for some great adventures roaming the countryside and spending time with work colleagues and friends. He was always willing and able to help others learn from his experience he gathered throughout his lifetime. We will remember Gary as a thoughtful and kind person who always cherished family time and the many friends he has made along the way. Julie and I are grateful for getting to know Gary and truly calling him a great friend. He will be missed by us and I'm sure everyone he has touched along the way.
