Obituary of Gary Allen Sharpe
Gary Allen Sharpe, age 75, of Davenport, Florida, was Promoted to Glory on November 17, 2023. He was born in Rome, NY in 1948. He attended community college in Rome, NY. Gary enjoyed being disc jockey with the campus radio station. He was a lifelong avid N.Y. Yankee fan.
His many careers include custodian in the Queensbury, NY school district. Gary relocated to Long Island in 1982 and began working at MEMCO manufacturing company. Gary attended the East Northport Salvation Army, where he met and married Victoria Helena van Deurs, they were married in October of 1992. Gary and Vickie were overjoyed to become parents to twins, Timothy and Jonathan Sharpe in December of 1995.
After some time, Gary and Vickie deceided to relocate their family to the Davenport, FL area in 1997. Gary and Vickie began their careers at Walt Disney World. In the 21 years being a Disney cast member, Gary would work a variety of positions leading up to a promotion to management and retiring in 2019 from his guest services position.
Sadly, in 2002 Vickie would ultimately lose a long battle with breast cancer, leaving Gary devastated and a single father of his two sons. Many friends would step in to offer help. During this time Gary was also able to draw strength from his lifelong belief in his Christian faith, and the Lord Jesus Christ. One of these long-time family friends was Arlene Saunders. The Lord blessed Gary with marriage again in 2004, and they were married up until his last day.
Gary enjoyed spending time and energy with his church family. When asked, he accepted the position to lead the Voice of Hope program, including a feeding program at the Orlando Coalition for the homeless. Gary was a man with strong core values, and a deep love to envelop the faith he proudly proclaimed thoughtout his life.
Gary's passing was due to complications after surgery. He was surrounded by his immediate family and their love and support as he was called home to be with his heavenly father. He was preceded in death by his father, George Sharpe; mother, Mary Razzano Strom; his wife, Victoria Sharpe; and his brother, Michael Sharpe. He is survived by his wife, Arlene M. Saunders-Sharpe; sons, Timothy and Jonathan; grandson, Logan; step-daughter, Melanie; step-son-in-law, Glenn; and step-granddaughter, Kellie Chandler of Palmyra, PA. Also, his siblings and their families, George Sharpe and his wife, Antoinette of Hudson Falls, and their children Joseph, Angelo, Deana, Jennifer, and grandchildren. His brother, Matthew and his wife, Margaret of Mentor, OH and sons, Eric and Aaron and grandchildren. His brother, Wayne and his wife, Linda of Florence, OR and their children, Keri, Kristen, Jason, Justin, and grandchildren. His sister, Anne Marie Sardina and her husband, Manuel of Glenns Falls, NY, and daughter, Virginia, and grandchildren. Sister-in-law, Louise Sharpe of MN, and daughters, Corrissa, Alyssa, and Alyah. Also included are his half-siblings and their families, Georgette Austie of Rome, NY, Keith Sharpe of SC, Kevin Sharpe of Rome, NY, Catherine Rousseau of AL, Lisa Sharpe of OH, Brent Sharpe of PA, Christine Casey of CO, Michelle Strom, deceased and Todd Strom, deceased.
A celebration of life and inurnment will be held at Beahm's Chapel Cemetery, 1224 US HWY 211E, Luray, VA. Tentatively on Saturday, June 8th, 2024, at 1:00 PM.

Him being one of my biggest heroes - I was always a big fan of uncle Gary - I followed him every place I could, ha poor guy. He was a fantastic uncle, support person, friend, fellow Christian, man of God, loved by his words in action and always made me feel safe and always loved, I miss him terribly. Love you my uncle Gary.
