Carl Erskine Sharpe, 71, of Jefferson City, passed away on August 31, 2025 at SSM Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.

Carl was born on July 9, 1954 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina to the late Robert Lee Sr. and Janie (Cox) Sharpe.

In 2021, Carl married his longtime partner, Kathryn Palmer. The couple shared 29 wonderful years together before their marriage, building a life full of love, laughter, and lasting memories.

Carl graduated from George Washington Carver High School in Pine Top, North Carolina, in 1972. Raised on his family's farm in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, he carried the values of hard work and community throughout his life.

He spent many years working in the textile industry in Rocky Mount, North Carolina before joining Armeco Drilling in 1990, where he dedicated over three decades to installing underground fiber optics until his retirement in 2024. Known for his fun-loving spirit and quick wit, Carl was a true jokester who could always bring a smile to those around him.

Along with his wife Kathryn, those that remain to cherish Carl's memory are his daughters, LaTonya "Nicole" Sharpe-Shaw (Dwight) of Tarboro, NC, Naphtali "DeAnn" Sharpe of Rocky Mount NC; stepchildren, LaQuent Palmer of Columbia and Michaela Palmer of Jefferson City; brothers, Robert Lee Jr. (Joyce) Sharpe of Rocky Mount, NC, Isaac (Naomi) Sharpe of Raleigh, NC, Rev. Tryone (Rose) Sharpe of South Plainfield, NJ, Ronald (Carolyn) Sharpe of Rocky Mount, NC, Eric Sharpe of Rocky Mount, NC, Marvin (Belinda) Johnson of Rocky Mount, NC, sisters; Cyntha Burns of Winston-Salem NC, Sylvia Sharpe of Rocky Mount, NC, Tonya Sharpe of Rocky Mount, NC, Tosha (Al) Hoggard of Rocky Mount, NC, Wanda (Clement) Little of Winston-Salem, NC; sister-in-law, Charlotte Galbreath (Jeff) of Fulton, along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents Robert Lee Sr. and Janie (Cox) Sharpe; son, Carl Kerchief Sharpe; daughter, Roseheedah Iman Sharpe Belcher; stepson, Jeremy LeTylen Palmer; sisters, Vivian "Wig" Feaster, Shirley Kennedy, Shelia "Bonnie" Petteway, Ella "Tootsie" Bulluck, and brothers, Quintella "Buck" Sharpe and Cedric Sharpe.

Memorial services will be held at Callaway Christian Church on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 12:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service at the church.
