Gary Sibben Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Billman-Hunt Funeral Chapel - Minneapolis on Sep. 22, 2025.
Gary was born and raised in North Minneapolis where he graduated from Patrick Henry
Senior High Class of 1971. After fatefully finding joy and career in optometry, he
established a home in Brooklyn Center before spending his final years in Plymouth, MN.

In December of 1975, Gary married Heidi Heikkila and together they brought two
amazing children into the world: Justin and Kara Mae. Happily, they lived as a family
with their dog Sandy until Heidi's passing in 1993. Gary was then blessed to marry Terri
Eaton, June of 1995, who he loved with all his heart. Together they loved (and spoiled)
their three granddaughters, Heidi, Eliette, and Taleigha who they are infinitely proud of.

Gary always had a heart for community and service. On his 14 th birthday, at the
invitation of his father, Gary joined the Lincoln Chapter of DeMolay where he began his
incredible journey through Masonic life. On June 5, 1974, with his father Kenneth
Sibben, Sr leading the way, Gary was initiated into Arcana Masonic Lodge No. 187 of
Minneapolis, Minnesota. He joined Zuhrah Shrine in 1989 where he continued to follow
in his father's footsteps as Captain of the Patrol and was proud when his son (Justin)
became a third generation Captain. Together they become one of, if the only, family of
three generations to hold the title of the Captain of the Patrol. Gary continued on to hold
the illustrious position of Potentate for the year of 2011 and continued to be active in the
organization until his death. He was honored to spend a life surrounded by such great
men.

Gary was proceeded in death by Father Kenneth Sibben, Sr., Mother Helen Sibben, and
wife Heidi Sibben. His family continues on through his wife Terri Sibben, son Justin
Sibben, daughter Kara Mae Kuykendall, son-in-law Shawn Kuykendall, and
granddaughters Heidi, Eliette, and Taleigha, and his brothers Kenneth Jr (Linda),
Frederick (Catherine), David (Dee) and sister Pat.
