Gary Lyle Stinton, 86, of Belle Fourche passed away February 24, 2025 at Rolling Hills Healthcare, Belle Fourche.
Gary was born March 21, 1938 in Winner, SD to Lyle and June Stinton who where living in Burke, SD. Gary spent his youth in Burke, graduating in 1956. He continued his education graduating from Brookings in 1960 with an animal husbandry degree.
Gary married Jan Schlaht in 1960. They started their life together in Brookings and then lived in several states and different towns. Gary worked as a State Sales Manager for Moorman Feeds for many years. They had 3 children, Kim, Karrie and Shawn. In 1978 they bought the Gregory, SD Sale Barn, and operated it for 11 years. Most of their life they lived in Iowa for 25 years and in 2001 moved to Belle Fourche.
Gary was a very special guy and loved his horses and goats. He spent a lot of time with them. He also worked as a building manager at the Rec Center for 17 years. He was a lifetime member of the United Church of Christ and held several offices during the years.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 64 years, Jan Stinton; children, Kim David, Karrie (Dave) Vinyard and Shawn Stinton all of Belle Fourche; grandchildren, Amanda Alexander and Emily (Ashton) Rone; great grandchildren, Cedar Rone, Willow Alexander and River Alexander; brothers-in-law, Terry and Larry Schlaht of Omaha, NE; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Penny Kalso and his mother and father-in-law.
Per Gary's wishes there will be no funeral but there will be a family memorial in Gregory late this Summer.
The family suggests memorials be directed to the Western Humane Society, 324 Industrial Dr. Spearfish, SD 57783.
Arrangements are under the care of Kline Funeral Chapel of Belle Fourche. An online guest book and video tribute will be available at klinefuneralchapel.com
