Deerfield, MA - Gary M. Straw, 56, of Lower Road in Deerfield left this world and the love of his life much to early on Sunday, January 7, 2024. Gary was the devoted life partner of Renee Haskins. They had purchased a home in Deerfield and settled in to make many years of loving memories. Gary was born in Northampton, a son of the late George M. Straw and Grace Ann (Parsission) Straw. He was raised in Northampton, attending local schools. Gary worked in the Fire Sprinkler field for many years, installing, maintaining and servicing fire sprinkler and support systems for the Dobbert Company in North Adams, Boston and Nantucket. He also worked as a Fire Equipment Inspector for residential and commercial buildings for many years, most recently for Fire Equipment Inc, in Agawam. Gary loved the simple things in life, his home in Deerfield with Renee, holiday gatherings and just visiting with neighbors. He could talk to anyone and made friends wherever he went. He was a member of the South Deerfield PACC, where he volunteered wherever he could, quietly helping out whenever it was needed. He leaves the love of his life, Renee Haskins. His siblings; Carol-Lee Hathaway and David Straw of Easthampton, a nephew Michael Straw and a multitude of friends, near and wide. Gary will be missed for his caring soul, his generous heart is with all of us. FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE INVITED TO GATHER TO REMEMBER GARY ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2024 FROM 2:00 TO 5:00 P.M. AT THE SOUTH DEERFIELD POLISH AMERICAN CITIZENS CLUB, 46 SOUTH MAIN ST., SOUTH DEERFIELD. There will be a Service of Remembrance and a time to share memories at 3:00 p.m.
