Gary R. Strayer

Gary R. Strayer, 85 of Red Lion passed away peacefully at York Hospital on Sunday, January 1, 2023. He was the beloved husband of 43 years to Jenny K. (Posey) Strayer.
Born December 27, 1937 in York, he was a son of the late Lloyd E. and Elizabeth L. (Grove) Strayer.
Mr. Strayer is fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a faithful member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Dallastown where he coached and played for 31 years on the church softball team, retiring in 1998. Gary was also a life-member of the Dallastown Fire Company, and faithfully served a long career with Yorktowne Cabinetry from which he retired after 47 years.
In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by three children: Marc Strayer of York, Debra Stroman and her husband, Lowell of York Haven and Jill Stevens and her husband, Jeffrey of Shiloh; three siblings: Kay Ann Seitz, Susie Strayer and Lynn Strayer; six grandchildren: Corey, Jessica, Cody, Joshua, Fred and Tori, as well as three great-grandchildren: Kori, Greyson and Easton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd Strayer, Jr.
A graveside service to celebrate Gary's life will be held at 11am on Thursday, January 5th at Dallastown Union Cemetery on Fruitlyn Drive with Rev. David Stough officiating. Guests are encouraged to arrive at the cemetery by 10:45 am.
