Gary Emerson Taylor

Gary Emerson Taylor, age 88, of Pickerington, OH passed away January 20, 2026. He was born September 2, 1937 in Columbus, OH to the late Neil Emerson and Mildred Taylor.

Gary graduated from Ohio State serving as the basketball team manager. Gary went on to become statistician with Jimmy Crum and Channel 4 television for 17 years. Gary was employed by Midwestern Enterprises, the regional distributor for all Volkswagen, Porsche and Audi cars for Ohio and Kentucky for 39 years. Served on both the Violet Township and city of Pickerington 200 year celebration committees. He served as the president of Pickerington-Violet Township Historical Society for 14 years. He was the past president and treasurer of Pickerington Lions Club. He was a volunteer with Violet Township fire department, retiring after 40 years and 1000 calls for service.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Deborah Taylor. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara Taylor; son, Kenn (Diane) Taylor; daughter, Kristen (Dan) LaMacchia; 5 grandchildren, Anthony LaMacchia, Natalie LaMacchia, Mary Taylor, Angie (Greg) Eisenacher and April (Darrell) Vanest; 4 great grandchildren, Emily, Ellie, Haylee and Eli; sister, Carol (David) Scheetz; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may visit 5-8:00pm on Friday, January 23, at DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Rd. N. Pickerington, OH 43147. A funeral service will begin at 10:00am on Saturday, January 24, at the funeral home. Interment at Violet Cemetery.
