In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Thompson. He is survived by two stepdaughters, Angela (Troy) Kyle and Melissa (Mark) Lamaster both of Louisville, a sister, Cathy (Marty) John of Florida, two brothers, Jimmy (Edna Joyce) Thompson and Michael (Charlene) Thompson both of Bloomfield, a sister-in-law, Roxann Thompson of Taylorsville, six grandchildren also survive.
Gary's family respectfully chose cremation. There will be no public services. The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements.
