On May 26, 2025, Gary Raymond Vaughan was called home to be with our Lord and Savior at 68 years old.
A Celebration of Life is planned for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Vanderveer St. Church of Christ in Burnet.
He was born July 5, 1956, in Galveston, Texas to parents John Robert Lloyd Vaughan and Betty Sue Vaughan. He is survived by his 2 children, Emily Vaughan and Justin Vaughan, and his three siblings, Johnny Vaughan and wife Peggy, Scott Vaughan and wife Kelly, Gayle Barnes and husband Jeff. Gary also leaves behind his granddaughter Nova, 3 nephews, 2 nieces, and many beloved friends and extended family.
Gary grew up in Longview, Texas where he played baseball, went bird hunting with his dad and began his love for motorcycles. Gary often returned to Longview where he continued to maintain close friendships with those he grew up with. Gary graduated from Sam Houston State with a degree in criminal justice and became a probation officer for many years. He then went on to start Vaughan's AC and Heating where he found a passion for helping others. Gary never left someone without what they needed.
Gary found joy in baseball games, hometown sports, AC/DC concerts, cruising on his motorcycles, spending time at the lake, and teaching his granddaughter how to throw a football. He never left a room without making everyone laugh, the deep belly ache laugh. Gary was one of a kind that continuously brought a smile to all faces and had a heart for others. Some might call him an absolute legend. While we grieve the loss of Gary, we remember the happiness and memories he blessed us with. To know him was to love him.

Condolences to the family. Gary was always willing to help his neighbors. When our air conditioning/heater needed servicing he would come even when it was after work hours.

I am devastated to know that Gary is no longer living just down the street from me. Gary was so loved by everyone that knew him. My many memories of him are both sweet and comical but the one that has remained with me for 21 years will never fade. My husband and I moved to Wofford Drive in Burnet on June15, 2004. The weekend of July 4 our air conditioner quit working. I had met a lady living on Wofford and I asked her if she knew an air conditioner repairman. She highly recommended Gary Vaughan, just down the street. I called him and he came to our home immediately. It was so very hot but Gary went right to work. He discovered the problem and it could be fixed but being July 4, he was unable to get the part he needed. But he told me he would do his best to find a window unit for our bedroom. Late that evening he informed us that he had one and would install it. He worked so hard and it was dark but he kept at it until he got it into our window. Then he said this - "Mrs. Bennett, if it doesn´t keep you as cool as it should, you and Mr. Bennett just come on down to my house and stay until I get your unit fixed." I could not believe what I was hearing from a man we had known less than 12 hours! As l found out over the next 21 years, he meant every word he said. I will miss him greatly because my air conditioner is old and we had just spoken about him coming to check it out - but it´s nothing to compare with the way l will miss him as a dear friend. My heart aches as I write this. Rest in peace, Gary - we will meet again in Heaven.
