Gary Walker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Yanaitis Funeral Home, Inc. - Plains on Dec. 16, 2025.
Gary Wayne Walker of Bear Creek Twp. passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, at Allied Services Hospice Center in Wilkes-Barre.

Gary was born in High Point, NC, and was the youngest son of the late Thomas M. Walker and Eda Chriscoe Walker. After his early education, Gary moved to Miami, Florida and graduated from the University of Miami, School of Music in 1975. Gary was a very talented musician on many instruments and had a beautiful singing voice. Gary worked as a professional musician for many years, and it was at this time that Gary met his wife, Susan, and they began a 50-year life together filled with lots of love, laughter, music, and traveling the states and abroad with family and friends. Gary later worked in sales and lastly at the Wilkes-Barre Municipal Golf Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his job there immensely.

Gary was a member of St. Elizabeth Church and its choir, and he also was a member of the Wilkes-Barre Coin Club. He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his brother Thomas E. Walker and Hank Walker, High Point, NC, and his best friend and mentor Reverend Bill Grady, Archdale, NC.

Gary is survived by his wife, Susan, his brother-in-law, Richard Sawicki, Wilkes-Barre, and many wonderful friends, relatives, and neighbors in PA and NC.

We would like to thank Dr. Greenwald and his staff, and Dr. Ira Vohra for their compassion and care of Gary during his illness. We would also like to thank Rev. Rawel Toppo for his spiritual support and guidance.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth Church, Bear Creek, PA, on Saturday, December 20, at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flower donations in Gary's honor be directed to the Medical Oncology Prescription Drug Fund, 382 Pierce Street, Kingston, PA.

Rest in peace my beloved Sugar Bear.
