Gary Richard Walp Sr, 72, passed away surrounded by loved ones in his sleep at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie, MD on December 5th, 2024 after a 20 year fight with heart disease.
Gary was born in Camp Kilmer, New Jersey on January 2, 1952, to parents, Eugene Walp and Elizabeth (nee Johnson) Walp. Gary lived in the Annapolis area for 46 years, and most recently was a resident of Severna Park, MD. Gary worked as an Auto Mechanic from his teenage years until 2014 when he retired.
Gary was known best in the Annapolis area for the fast muscle cars that he built. He had a passion for Chevrolet's. He also enjoyed being an avid fisherman. Gary shared his knowledge of auto mechanics, his passion of fast cars, and his love for fishing with his friends and family including his late father, Eugene; his brothers; and his son, Gary Jr. through the years.
He is survived by his children; Gary Walp, Jr. and Tammy Washington; brothers: Eugene Walp Jr., Mark Walp, Brian Walp; and his sister, Sharon Miller.
Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories of Gary's life on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Lasting Tributes, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD from 4-7 pm. Eulogies and memories will be shared from 5:30-6 pm, with visitation time occurring before (4-5:30 pm) and after (6-7 pm).
