Jackie Mae Walp, age 78, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma. She was born on Tuesday, July 30, 1946, to Delbert Guess and Robbie Gene Scallons Whittenberg in De Queen, Arkansas.
Jackie was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who cherished her family above all else. She was of the Pentecostal faith and found great joy in sharing her love through cooking-her meatloaf was a favorite among her children. She embraced her Texas Cherokee heritage, spending time creating beautiful Native American beadwork, tending to her garden and flower beds, and sewing with care. A dedicated worker, she spent many years at Taylor Publishing Company in Dallas, Texas. Jackie's warmth, creativity, and deep love for her family will always be remembered and cherished.
Jackie is preceded in death by her father, Delbert Guess; one son, Shawn Walp and one brother, Johnnie Reese Guess; two sisters, Joy Lynn Guess and Mary Lee Guess.
Jackie is survived by her husband of 38 years, Doug Walp of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; her mother, Robbie Whittenberg of Kaufman, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Cindy Crawford of Kaufman, Texas and William and Stephanie Walp of Josephine, Texas; four daughters and sons in law, Elizabeth and Charlie O'Toole of Idabel, Oklahoma, Suzette Walp of Gainesville, Texas, Tammie Walp of McKinney, Texas and Jessica Crawford of Kingwood, Texas; one brother, Yancy Guess of Missouri; two sisters, Verna Gene Whittenberg of Terrell, Texas and Roxie Ann Guess of Farmington, New Mexico; one stepbrother, David Whittenberg of North Richland Hills, Texas; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 2:00 A.M. at the Broken Bow Cemetery with arrangements entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
