Gary Watson, Jr., also known as "PQ," age 71, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Rockwood, TN, passed away at his home on September 16, 2025. Along with his friends Charlie and Doug, Gary was part of the Legacy Smokers Competitive Cooks and was an honored patron of "Our Place" Bar. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ritt "Harry" Watson, Clemma Newcome Watson, William Sorrick, Sr., and Emma Rodergo; as well as his brothers, Ricky Watson and Stephen Watson. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sandra Darline Relford Watson; sons, Garland "G.W." H. Watson (Barbie) and James R. Watson; very special granddaughter, Tessa Phillip (Trent) of Knoxville, TN; grandson, Justin Watson of Knoxville, TN; and great-granddaughter, Eliyanah "Elly" of Knoxville, TN. He is also survived by his father, Gerald H. Watson of Rockwood, TN; mother, Arlene S. Hoskins of Chattanooga, TN; brothers, Ricky "Rick" G. Watson and Stephen "Steve" B. Watson; and sisters, Cynthia Lynn "Cyndy" Watson of Knoxville, TN, and Jo Ann Ferrell (Scotty) of Rockwood, TN. Affectionately known as "Papaw," Gary will be remembered for his inquisitive nature-his family fondly referred to it as "playing twenty questions." Above all, he was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Rose Funeral & Cremation - Broadway is honored to serve the Watson family.
