Gary A. White, 77, passed away quietly at home on Friday, March 28, 2025.
Gary was born in El Paso, Texas on June 18, 1947. He graduated from Austin High School. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era.
Gary worked for the City of El Paso in The El Paso Police Department. He dedicated his life to the department for twenty years rising through the ranks until his retirement as Lieutenant in December of 1991. During his career with the Department, he answered a call for a bank robbery taking place. He apprehended the bank robber that involved shots fired. The windshield of his unit was shot out by the robber. Gary returned fire resulting in the robber being shot and captured.
Gary enjoyed collecting guns and going out to the firing range. His favorite down time was watching all kinds of crime stories, documentaries and history about law enforcement.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents: Lloyd and Evelyn White and an infant daughter, G.J. He leaves behind his wife of 23 years Maria (Mari) White; son, Gary White Jr. (Shannon); and daughter, Kristalyn Amanda White. Three grandchildren: Mitchel White, A’Kiralyn Faeth White and Daniel Solomon White.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a Chapel Service at 12:00 PM, Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Homes - East, 750 N. Carolina. Graveside Service will follow at 1:30 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson, with Military Honors.
