Gary was born on October 14, 1942 to Claude and Wilma Williams in Urbana Ohio. After graduating from Chillicothe High School in 1960, Gary went on to study Architecture at Ohio University. During his sophomore year, Gary enlisted in the Air Force to serve his country in the Vietnam War for four years. Afterwards, Gary returned to Ohio University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with an Architectural Degree and joined O'dell Associates an Architectural Firm in Charlotte. He later went on to manage his own firm and eventually retired. After retiring Gary could be found spending his free time watching Cincinnati Reds baseball and Ohio State Buckeyes football.
He was a dedicated member of the Civitan Club and proud supporter of Habitat for Humanity.
Gary is survived by his wife of 59 years, Cheri Williams, three children, Kristin McCoy (and husband Bob), Kenny Williams (and wife Fonda), Keith Williams, and four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made on Gary's behalf to The ALS Association North Carolina Chapter, an organization very meaningful to Gary.

Dear Cheri and Family, I will miss reading Gary's great posts on FaceBook, but most of all I'll always remember the great times we had with you and him in San Angelo TX, when he and Ken were training at Goodfellow AFB...some days were better than others, but we always had each other to get us through the rough times--thoughts are with you now in this sad time, much love from Ruth Perry and "Kenner" Giles
