Gary Lynn Yoder, 74, of Galesburg, Illinois, died Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Allure of Lake Storey, Galesburg.

Gary was born on June 20, 1951 in Aledo, Illinois, the son of Earl Fredrick and Mary Lois (Knowles) Yoder. He married Maria Antonia Martinez and they had two sons, John and Jason. They later divorced and Gary married Gloria Jean Shaw. She survives. He faithfully cared for Jean for over 20 years following her stroke, until his health no longer allowed him to. Gary is also survived by John (Whitney Tabb) Yoder of Galesburg and Jason (Robyn Lovett) Yoder of Oquawka, Illinois; and five grandchildren, Brianna Yoder, Gage Yoder, Ryan Yoder, Ashley Yoder, and Emmy Yoder. Gary is also survived by one brother, Bob (Judy) Yoder of San Diego, California; one sister, Teresa (Rex) Hatfield of Athens, Georgia; and a special aunt, Kathy Price of Galesburg. Gary was preceded in death by his parents.

Gary was self-employed for several years, owning and operating an autobody shop with his father. He spent his last 20 years working at Lowe’s in Galesburg prior to retiring.

Gary was an accomplished high school baseball player and carried his talents beyond high school. He was a talented musician who played the guitar and sang for many years. Gary was an avid fan of Elvis Presley. He enjoyed spending time fishing and bowling.

Private family services will be held. Cremation will be accorded. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
