Gary J. Young, 74, of New Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville with his family by his side.
Born in Lewisburg on February 6, 1951, he was the son of the late James and Evelyn (Snyder) Young. He was married to the former Sandra Koch. Together they celebrated 54 years of marriage.
He was a 1969 graduate of Warrior Run High School. He was employed by Branch Motor Express for 10 years. He retired from Con Agra in 2016 with more than 30 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Watsontown American Legion.
In addition to his wife Sandy, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Tracy and Mike Meckley, a son and daughter-in-law Travis and Paula Young, five grandchildren Keagan Meckley, Lydia Meckley, Hadlee Meckley, Alyssa Holmes and Andrew Young, two great granddaughters, a brother and sister in law Larry and Lavera Young, and four brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Donny and Becky Koch, Len and Kim Koch, Dave and Denise Koch and Kevin and Karissa Koch.
He enjoyed going to his son's baseball games, was a fan of the New York Yankees and Washington Redskins. He especially loved his times with his cabin buddies playing cards, hunting, fishing or spending a Saturday at the cabin. He also enjoyed going to his grandchildren's school activities and sporting events with his daughter
At Gary's request, private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions in Gary's name may be made to the White Deer Township Volunteer Fire Company 366 Cemetery Street, New Columbia, PA 17856.
