Gary Steven Zerella

Gary Steven Zerella, age 73, of Bradenton, FL, entered into rest on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at his home.

He was the devoted husband of 51 years to Karen (DeLoma) Zerella. Gary was born in Bridgeport on November 21, 1952 son of the late Nicholas and Dorothy (Perssico) Zerella and was a resident of Derby for most of his life where he raised his family until moving to Florida in 2021. He worked for the Post Office in Derby for many years until his retirement in 2014 when he decided to help take care of his granddaughters.

Gary loved golfing and was an avid UCONN Basketball fan. He also loved the New York Yankees, New York Giants and the Boston Celtics. Gary truly married his best friend and they built a wonderful life together. He enjoyed staying busy and could often be found going to the gym, doing yard work, and working on household projects. He would also do anything to help his family and friends. Gary enjoyed his FL "winters" and loved going to the beach or lounging by the pool and attending Friday night bingo. He spent his summers back in CT enjoying time with his family and especially loved going to concerts at the casino. Most of all, he loved being "Pop-Pop" to his four granddaughters. Gary showed up consistently to their school and sporting events and was so proud of all of their accomplishments. He also loved playing with his grand-dog Drew.

Gary was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather and he will be missed forever and always.

Gary was the beloved father of Tina Zerella and Gary Zerella and his wife Diane, loving grandfather of Kayla McKenzie, Aria McKenzie, Giuliana Zerella and Abigail Zerella and brother of Nicholas Zerella, II, Joseph Zerella and Anthony Zerella. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

On Friday, December 19th, 2025 friends may call from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. His funeral will follow at 12:00 PM at the parlor.
