Gary Cyril Zieglmeier
September 24, 1953 – January 26, 2025
Gary Zieglmeier lost a long, hard fought battle with cancer on January 26, 2025, at the Hot Springs VA Medical Center with his wife and daughter by his side.
Gary was born in St. Cloud on September 24, 1953, to Ted Zieglmeier and LaVerne (Heid) Zieglmeier. He was the first of 5 children.
As a child, Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing and they remained a life long passion. His wife used to joke that their house looked like Cabela's due to the fact that his daughter was a taxidermist.
After graduating from St. Cloud Tech, he entered the U.S. Navy in June of 1972. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, he worked for a well drilling company in St. Cloud. He could tell many stories about drilling wells in sub-zero temperatures. He moved to Colorado in the early 80's and had a painting company for many years. He and his wife moved to Hot Springs in 2019, where they found their happy place.
Gray was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and LaVerne Zieglmeier and his son, Brandon Zieglmeier.
He is survived by his wife, Colleen; brother, Dale Zieglmeier; sister, Sandy (Paul) Voigt; brother, Mark Zieglmeier; sister, Tammy (Kenny) Sales; son, David (Amanda) Zieglmeier; daughter, Shelly (Ryan) Brosnahan; daughter, Kelly Moreland; daughter, Tara Zieglmeier; step-son, Lucas Harms; grandsons, Ethan Henderson; Leyton Youmans; Chase Youmans; Zayne Grobowski; granddaughter, Ellie Zieglmeier and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
At a later date, there will be a service at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD with a celebration of life to follow at he and his wife's home.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs, SD.
