Gavin Cook Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Musselman Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc on Dec. 10, 2025.
Gavin Carlton Cook, 24, of Landisburg, PA left this earthly life to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, December 5, 2025, due to complications from a seizure. As he passed through Heaven's gates, a soft snowfall graced the earth below, marking his arrival. Gavin was born in Harrisburg, PA at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital to Elyse L. Forwood Fisler and Thomas S. Cook. Gavin was diagnosed with autism at the age of 3.

Gavin was "happy go lucky," a pure child of GOD. He was incredibly joyful and always ready for the next adventure. He loved nature, animals, and creatures of the forest; he spoke their language. His best buddies at home were Tuna, his beloved tabby cat, and Iva, his devoted German Shepherd dog. He enjoyed trips with his dad, Tom, to their camp near Indiana, PA, keeping the campfire going, and reading books aloud, uninterrupted. Visiting Lisa's farm and interacting with all the farm animals made him smile and feel content. 1,500-piece puzzles were a challenge he savored, and he often completed them upside down. He enjoyed heading to one of his favorite places, Cluggy's, with his roll of quarters, ready for the claw machine. He loved intricate arts and spent many hours completing Diamond Art projects in a very methodical manner.

Gavin's greatest pleasures were listening to music, playing the piano, and identifying musical instruments. He was especially fond of classical music, particularly Bach, Beethoven, along with Mozart, and could rapidly name many of their compositions. He enjoyed any musical concerts, particularly Sight & Sound productions and had a love of many different foreign languages. He and his dad were a team when it came to working with wood both in the garage and at their camp.

Gavin attended Carroll Elementary School in New Bloomfield and was enrolled in the Vista School in Hershey. He graduated from West Perry High School in June of 2022. He was employed at Dickinson College as a food service employee and at the Abarta Coca Cola plant in Lemoyne as a packaging employee.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, John J. (Pop Pop) Cook. Gavin is survived by his parents and his devoted sister Grace L. Cook, his maternal grandparents R. Dennis Forwood and LaRue D. Herwick Forwood, Gettysburg, PA, paternal grandparent Carol V. Anderson Cook, Indiana, PA, maternal aunt and uncle Emily and Jeff Rimland and cousin Alice, Center County, PA, paternal aunt and uncle Heather and Marc Bitsko, Tennessee, Timothy J. Fisler, Chambersburg, PA, his loving stepfather, and stepbrothers Josiah and Caleb Fisler, J. Herman Fisler and Carole A. Fisler, step grandparents, along with Lisa Snyder, his father's significant other, and her son Jake, who were so much a part of Gavin's life as they shared their farm and love of animals with him.

A visitation will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Grand Point Church, Chambersburg, PA, with a celebration of life at 11:00AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grand Point Church, Chambersburg at https://ppay.co/cpvrxV3wg0Q, or Hershey Gardens at https://www.hersheygardens.org/support/.
