Marjorie Virginia Cook, 99, of Quincy, IL passed away peacefully at Sunset Home on February 5, 2026 with loved ones by her side. Born on September 28, 1926 to Pauline and Charles Owen in Springfield, MO, Marjorie lived a long and devoted life guided by faith, family and community.
A graduate of Drury College with a degree in Religious Studies in 1948, Marjorie's education shaped much of her life's purpose. That same year she married the love of her life, Christopher D. Cook. Together they raised four children. Chris and Marge also went on to own and operate DiOre Shoes in Quincy for nearly 30 years. The Cooks attended church at Vermont Street Methodist Church and later The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Quincy.
Marge was an avid Bridge player at the Women's City Club for many years as well as a stint at the Quincy Racket Club and a Bible Study group. She was a lifelong member of PEO and also enjoyed public speaking. Marge and Chris traveled widely from trips to Europe, Montana and Oregon with many winters spent in Myrtle Beach, SC. A special love in Marge's life was her little dog companion for many years, Lovie.
Surviving are daughter Betsy Ayers of Edina, MO, and sons Christopher C. (and Vicki) Cook of Lexington, KY and Jeff (and Ruth) Cook of O'Fallon, MO. Marge was blessed with 14 grandchildren living across the United States, Norway and Germany, and 14 great grandchildren as well as several nephews.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Chris Cook, daughter Cynthia Cook, her sister and her parents.
A graveside service at Ellington Cemetery and Celebration of Life will be held for Marjorie at a later date.

Marjorie talked about playing tennis and her love of the game. Such a sweet Lady, I am so Blessed I got to meet her and spend time with her.
